Arts & Crafts
Summer 2024 Theme: Under the Sea
We will hold a book discussion and read-aloud of The Mess That We Made by Michelle Lord. Afterwards, we will venture through Adobe Creek and Redwood Grove Nature Preserve, finding rocks to use for our painted fish! We will also make tie-dye colored fish. For snack break, our DIY, sea-inspired cookie decorating awaits us.
Ages: Pre-K through 4th grade
Writers & Readers Wonderland: Younger Kids
Campers will learn to express their voices through creative writing. They will draw and write about colorful creations. The kids will create themed word hunts. Counselors will help your writers read, annotate and create their own informational brochures. On Day 3, parents are welcome to join the presentation party — campers can showcase their work and accomplishments! No experience required.

Age: Kindergarten through 3rd grade
Writers & Readers Wonderland: Older Kids
Budding writers will script, film, and produce their own short podcast to answer: How is your life as a student? Based on photos of rising trends (ie, fashion, sports, food, etc.) campers will also write forum style reviews. Campers will participate in the “What got your attention in the news?” challenge by writing a solution pitch to a current issue and illustrating a complimenting graphic. Campers will end the program by designing an online portfolio of their work. No experience required.
